The 19-year-old suspect is accused of killing Shelton resident Kyle Dear, 22, in Bridgeport on June 13, according to police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 19-year-old Bridgeport man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the June 13 killing of Shelton resident Kyle Dear, 22, in the PT Barnum Housing Complex, according to authorities.

Amheir Noel, a resident of the housing complex, was apprehended Wednesday, and was also charged with carrying a pistol without a permit.

"Noel had been arrested by our gang task force earlier today on unrelated charges in the town of Milford," said Scott Appleby, director of Bridgeport's Office of Emergency Management. "During a post-arrest interview, Noel admitted to shooting Dear. The murder was said to be in response to Dear’s friends robbing and pistol-whipping Noel."
