Suspect In Bridgeport Murder Apprehended In Georgia: Police

The suspect was wanted in connection with the murder of Gregory Williams.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Anthony Marion, a 58-year-old Bridgeport man, was apprehended in Fulton County, Georgia, on Monday in connection with the murder of 68-year-old Bridgeport resident Gregory Williams, according to Bridgeport police.

Marion is accused of stabbing Williams in December 2020, during an incident on Iranistan Avenue. Williams died in October 2022; the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Williams died of "Respiratory Complications Due to Remote Stab Wound of the Torso. The manner of death [was] Homicide."

"Exceptional/remarkable work by Detective Keith Hanson," wrote Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "He was able to secure an arrest warrant for Marion in under 3 months. The Bridgeport Police Department's thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the Williams family."

Details of Marion's apprehension were not disclosed, but he will be held in Georgia as a fugitive from justice, pending extradition back to Connecticut. Once back in the state, he faces a murder charge, and will be held in lieu of bail of $1.5 million.
