Suspect Who Can’t Swim Attempts to Evade Bridgeport Police by Jumping into River
A man tried to evade police by jumping in the water, which almost proved deadly.

BRIDGEPORT, CT – An unidentified suspect attempted to evade capture Tuesday by jumping into the Pequonnock River, only to find he could not swim, ctpost.com reported.
The man jumped from the East Washington Avenue bridge into the water after being approached by police about four outstanding warrants, according to ctpost.com. After jumping in the water, he quickly began to struggle.
Police began to start up the department’s Marine 1 rescue boat before the man was able to climb from the water himself, ctpost.com reported. He was then taken into custody.
