Suspects Arrested in Fatal Brick Throwing Incident in Bridgeport

Edy Morales, 41, was killed when he was struck in the head by a brick.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two people have been arrested in connection with a fatal brick throwing incident that killed a man in July, according to police.

The Connecticut Post reports that Anthony Martinez, 33, and Mari Vargas, 41, were both charged with first-degree Manslaughter. The two admitted throwing objects at a vehicle in which Edy Morales, 41, was riding, but both deny throwing the brick that hit him in the head and killed him.

The incident occurred on July 16 on Jane Street when a group of people, including Martinez and Vargas, threw objects at the vehicle after the suspects said they had been disrespected. Two other suspects are expected to be charged in connection with the case.
