Texas Educator Chosen As Bridgeport's New Schools Superintendent

The Board of Education reportedly reached the decision this week.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Carmela Levy-David, an assistant superintendent at a school district in Texas, has been named Bridgeport's next schools superintendent, replacing Michael Testani, who left last year to take over Fairfield Public Schools.

Levy-David was chosen by the Bridgeport Board of Education by a close 5-4 vote on Monday, reported the Connecticut Post. She is the assistant superintendent of elementary education for the Fort Bend Independent School District.

The Bridgeport district also considered current Interim Superintendent Alyshia Perrin for the job, but Levy-David won out.
