Theaters OF The Past Are ''Gone With The Wind''

MOVIE HOUSES DISAPPEARED

INDEED the movie house industry has fallen to the wayside especialy in BRIDGEPORT.When I grew up here our city was thriving with so many theaters that to choose a movie would be a chore now there are just memories of what use to be.Today CABLE TV gives us a wide range of movie choices.ALSO a system called ROKU is a one time buy that hooks up your tv in minutes to multi entertainment leaving nothing to chance but a vast supply of free entertainment.

Years ago the 40's and 50's BRIDGEPORT had so many theaters.WE had a drive in called THE CANDLELIGHT PIX,WARNER THEATRE ON STATE ST,THE RIVOLI THEATRE on FAIRFIELD AVE,THE RIALTO ON MAIN STREET,THE MERRITT THEATRE,THE HIGHWAY THEATRE,THE LOEWS POLI,THE MAJESTIC,THE STRAND,THE LYRIC TOO BROUGHT SUCH GREAT HOLLYWOOD flics for our entertainment.NOW most of the buildings that housed our movie houses do not exist.ALL in all we still have our golden memories of a great era -a special time when we could enjoy a great movie at a decent price.OH WELL BACK TO THE FUTURE ''WHERE IS MY TV REMOTE?''
