Looking back through time at the history of ST.VINCENTS'MEDICAL CENTER takes us as far back as 1903.AT the corner of MAIN STREET and Hawley Avenue then was the last stop on a BRIDGEPORT TROLLEY LINE,a piece of farm land became the site of what we know today as ST.VINCENTS' MEDICAL CENTER.
Recognizing a real need for a medical center for our community a priest from ST.PATRICKS Church in BRIDGEPORT had ventured to seek the help of THE DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY OF ST.VINCENTS'SAINT PAUL..With their assistance secured ,the dream of a hospital became a reality .A new facility was erected for $250,000 to serve the needs of the city and community.
AS time progressed ,a nursing training facility was started at ST.VINCENTS. The year now was 1905.The undertaking took the field of medicine a step further in patient care. The training and medical procedures were so different back then.THE nuns supervised many of the basic daily operations.

More changes arrived in the 1970s'AT that time a new medical center was built.A new name was put into place for the hospital.THEnew name was ST.VINCENTS'MEDICAL CENTER.Then came the 1980's ,with many new medical procedures were put in place.Patient heart care for example provided for better chances of survival for those with cardiac issues.
Today years later ST.VINCENTS MEDICAL CENTER ranks in the top 100 hospitals in heart care in the UNITED STATES.The facility has truly become a leader in the medical field.
I was born in ST.VINCENTS' in 1943 .Over the years I have been treated at the center many times.I am grateful to all the staff who attended my needs.Their dedication is the best I'VE seen anywhere.
AS we look back at the last century that ST.VINCENTS' has served so well to our community ,we certainly can appreciate the hard work, compassion, and dedication to the hospitals past staff, present staff for their true caring of patients.I'D like to extend my personal thanks to the past as well as the present staff for without your dreams, aspirations, dedication, and passion the community would never had benefited as well as it did over those years.
ST.VINCENTS'MEDICAL CENTER ,along with BRIDGEPORT HOSPITAL provide care on a 24/7 basis every day of the week. They indeed give the city a better image.WE as a community should be grateful that what was once a dream is indeed a reality that serves our community so well.
