UB Student Killed In Crash Weeks Before Graduation

The 27-year-old student was going to graduate with his master's degree in December.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport University student Naga Tulasi Ram Bethapudi was only weeks away from graduating with his master's degree in electrical engineering when he was struck and killed by a vehicle in Shelton.

Bethapudi, 27, is from India and was living in Waterbury at the time of his death, according to the Connecticut Post. Officials from the school and Bethapudi's friends are working to schedule a memorial.

His studies focused on power electronics and solar energy and his final project focused on renewable energy, a friend told the Post.

Bethapudi was struck during a multiple vehicle crash Tuesday night on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton. He was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Thursday morning no one had been criminally charged. The operators of two vehicles stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
