Unknown Substance Left At Office In Bridgeport; PD, FD Investigating

The incident was called into authorities just after 2 p.m. on Thursday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Police, fire and other emergency responders are investigating an unknown substance that was left at an office in the 300 block of North Washington Avenue in Bridgeport on Thursday, according to authorities.

Details were not available, but emergency personnel, including the Fairfield County Hazmat team and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, were contacted just after 2 p.m.

They are in the midst of determining the type of substance.

"The area is contained and there is no health risk to the public," police said in a statement, adding that the investigation remains active.
