Vigil In Bridgeport Scheduled To Honor Of Tyre Nichols

The vigil is scheduled for noon on Friday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A vigil has been scheduled for noon on Friday in Bridgeport to honor of Tyre Nichols, officials announced.

Mayor Joseph Ganim and Police Chief Roderick Porter will lead the vigil, with elected officials, City Council Members, and members of the community.

The event will be held at the Bridgeport Police Department, Police Memorial Plaza, 300 Congress St., in Bridgeport.

Nichols was the Memphis, Tennessee, man who was beaten and killed by police last month. His death sparked outrage throughout the nation, and has renewed calls for the passage of the federal George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.
