Woman Falls While at a Bridgeport Funeral and Wins $1 Million Settlement: Report

The woman fell while at the English Chapel Cathedral of Miracles on Wilmot Avenue in Bridgeport.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 76-year-old New Haven woman who attended a funeral in late 2011 at the English Chapel Cathedral of Miracles in Bridgeport reportedly fell over a chair in the aisle, and recently won a court settlement for $1 million.

Glenora King, a retired food services employee at Yale University, suffered a fractured hip in the fall, reports the Connecticut Post. Witnesses said that the funeral for Bishop Walter Joyner was attended by too many people for the church to hold, which may have contributed to the fall.

The jury awarded her $51,000 in economic damages - the amount her medical bills cost her - and more than $953,000 in non-economic damages, according to the publication. She testified that she has a permanent limp since the fall.
