More Details Released In Fatal 2-Vehicle Bridgeport Crash

Among those injured in the rollover crash were children, according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 24-year-old Seymour woman was killed in a two-vehicle, rollover crash in Bridgeport Monday afternoon that also saw several people sent to area hospitals with injuries, according to Bridgeport police.

Chelsy Naesha Torres succumbed to her injuries at Bridgeport Hospital following the 3:30 p.m. crash, which occurred on Pembroke Street near the traffic light at the intersection of Boston Avenue.

"A silver 2021 Toyota Rav which was occupied by two adult females and two children was struck from behind by a 2011 Buick Regal Cxl four door sedan being operated by one adult male," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Lonnie Blackwell, M.S., in a statement. "Both vehicles were facing north on Pembroke Street. American Medical Response, the Fire Department and Bridgeport Police Officers responded to the scene to assist the accident victims."

Torres was in the Toyota, and the Buick rolled over onto its roof in the crash, and the man had to be extricated.

The conditions of those injured in the crash were not disclosed.

"Next of kin [of Torres] was notified, and our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim," Blackwell said.
