Officer fatally shoots person during overnight wellness check in Bristol, police say (wfsb.com) — Police say a person was shot and killed by an officer during an overnight wellness check on Woodbridge Road in Bristol, near Chippens Hill Middle School. State police and the Office of the Inspector General are investigating what led to the call and the use of force, and authorities emphasize there is no ongoing threat to the public as more details are awaited.
   

2. CT city joins growing list of CT towns adopting red-light cameras. It has 35 high-crash intersections. (courant.com) — Bristol drivers should prepare for red-light cameras at some of the city’s most crash-prone intersections after the city council approved an ordinance and chose a vendor. Officials cite 90 serious injuries and 20 traffic deaths in three years, with the Route 229 and Pine Street/Mountain Road intersection likely among the first targeted, and promise strict privacy protections and no startup cost to the city.
   

3. Bristol man shot by police was U.S. Army combat vet, father of two (newstimes.com) — Bristol residents are learning more about the man fatally shot by a city police officer during a Friday night well-being check in the Chippens Hill neighborhood. Family say 43-year-old Jakub Dziemaszkiewicz, a Bristol native and Army combat veteran, was a father of two who loved fishing and hiking; state investigators and the medical examiner are now reviewing the circumstances of the shooting.
   

4. Volleyball Recap: Gillian Gray Leads Bristol Central to Win (maxpreps.com) — Bristol Central’s girls volleyball team bounced back from a Thursday loss by defeating Hall 3–1 on Friday, powered by standout performances from Gillian Gray and Emalyn Kirk. The Rams, now 12–4 and winners of five of their last six, next face familiar foe Bloomfield on Monday at 5 p.m., giving Bristol fans another chance to cheer them on.
