2 More Brookfield School Community Members Coronavirus Positive

BROOKFIELD, CT — Two more members of the Brookfield High School community tested positive for coronavirus, Superintendent John Barile has announced.

The last day the affected people were in school was Jan. 19. They and their families have been instructed to remain home and isolate.

"At this time, we have not received any other reports of students or staff members experiencing illnesses with symptoms resembling those of COVID-19," Barile said in an email to families on Wednesday.

Anyone who is considered a "close contact" with the infected community members has been contacted by now or will be contacted very soon and provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take, which includes quarantine for 10 days, according to Barile, with close monitoring for days 11-14.

"It is critical that all members of our community adhere to mitigating strategies to help reduce the spread of COVID-19; wear a mask- covering nose and mouth, wash hands frequently, and maintain social distance," Barile said.

The schools continue to monitor the COVID-19 data trends in collaboration with the Brookfield Health Department and our District Medical Advisor, according to Barile.
