Unfortunately, every year our shorelines accumulate garbage and thankfully every time we put a call out to the Candlewood Community, volunteers band together to help us clean it all up so that Candlewood Lake's beauty really shows through.

This year, we're putting out the call once again. May 21st is the date of the Clean Up (rain date 22nd), and we hope you can join us!

Here's how it works:

  • We need both clean up crew volunteers, as well as (and especially) clean up boat captains to bring the crews around.
  • Crews and captains arrive at their chosen pick up locations (one of the five town parks) at 8:30 to depart for a few hours of collecting debris.
  • At around noon we all come to New Fairfield Town Park to unload the trash and enjoy a great cookout with food donated by many of our area restaurants! Once you're done with lunch, your crew and captain head back by boat to your original departure point, the day is done and you can sit back, relax and feel good about what you did that day.

Registration is required to participate in the event because we need to ensure everyone that would like to help has a spot on a clean up boat.

Registration for both boat captains and clean up volunteers is available online. Click here to register.
