Brookfield, CT - The Twenties were roaring, the Champagne was flowing and the market was rising faster than the hemlines of the flappers’ skirts. High also were the expectations of the guests who flocked to Queenie and Burrs’ Manhattan apartment for the madcap party that awaited them.
So begins The Wild Party, Andrew Lippa’s free-wheeling portrayal of the excesses of an era and the lives of those where nothing was prohibited, including sex, alcohol, violence – and death.
The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts recreates this exuberant Off-Broadway sensation with a new production beginning September 14th. Starring as Queenie is Anya Caravella, with Jeramie Gladman as her lover Burrs. Steffon Sampson is the mysterious Mr. Black and Alyssa Serrambana is the exhuberant Kate. Madelaine True is played by Jacqui Owens, Joseph DeVellis is Eddie and Renee Sutherland is Mae. The party is filled with interesting guests including Kellen Schult as Phil D'Armano, Bobby Henry as Oscar D'Armano, Dan Satter as Max, Rebecca Pokorski as Delores, Daisy Stott as Nadine, Amber Mason as Jackie, Victor Rolden as Sam Himmelstein, Elizeth Brito as Kegs, Avery Owens as Reno, and Joe Cabolerro as the grouchy Neighbor.
The Wild Party was directed and choreographed by Todd Santa Maria with Melissa Jones as Musical Director. Assistant choreographers include Bonnie Gregson and Renee Sutherland. It is produced by Lou Okell and stage managed by Sarah Baldwin.
Performances run Sept. 14-29th on Fri. and Sat. at 8 pm. with Sunday matinees September 16 and 23 at 2 pm. There will be a free preview for senior citizens Thursday evening. September 13 at 8 pm. Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 students and seniors, available at the box office or online at www.BrookfieldTheatre.org.
