2nd 'Suicide by Cop' Attempt Tuesday; Charges Pending
A Brookfield man was Tased Tuesday in a second attempt to provoke police into ending his life.

Brookfield police responded to 370 Candlewood Lake Road again Tuesday evening for an almost identical situation as , in which the same local man by threatening officers with a knife.
On Tuesday, officers were again able to subdue the man without lethal force, however they once again were forced to Tase him before taking him into custody and to the hospital.
“It was an almost identical situation,” Brookfield police Capt. John Puglisi said Tuesday night. “He was intoxicated and had a knife.”

In the initial incident on Thursday, the man called Brookfield police dispatch stating that he intended to "commit suicide by cop," a means of suicide characterized by provoking law enforcment to shoot the person. According to Puglisi, that seemed to be his intention on Tuesday, as well.
The man was taken to Danbury Hospital again for treatment, however police are expected to file charges against him later this evening when he is released, Puglisi said.

Police have continued to withhold the man's name until charges are filed.
