Brookfield Moving Forward
Sharing my perspective on the direction Brookfleld is currently taking.

I served as a Selectman in Brookfield for four years leaving office in 2009. I want to share my perspective on the direction Brookfield has taken since then. When the team of Davidson and Lasser ran for office they told us what they wanted to accomplish, and I am proud of the many things they did. With efficient leadership and management skills:
- They have paved roads that had fallen into disrepair after years of neglect.
- They have replaced Kids Kingdom, securing a state grant to pay half the cost.
- They have (or within a few months will have) completed the water line down Federal Road. This not only provides fire protection to a vital commercial area, it enhances the value of the area attracting business and expanding our tax base.
- They have provided professional management and leadership to Town Hall operations.
- They have implemented technology that improved efficiencies and saves money.
- They have restored funding on maintenance of our physical assets to almost $2 million annually - where it was 12 years ago.
- They developed and implemented a plan for 100% funding of our pension obligations.
They have done these things while keeping the annual debt burden within the guidelines they set. They have accomplished this by keeping taxes low. The annual tax increase (even anticipating the current budget request) has been about 2.9% a year. This is a lower rate than any comparable period for the past 15 years and our tax rate remains one of the lowest in the state!
We are very fortunate to have had these two dedicated men in leadership roles for these past four years. While there is still more to do, I am confident that this positive momentum will continue. Brookfield needs to continue on this positive path.
