Brookfield Approves Town Budget: Report
The Brookfield Board of Finance will set the tax rate on Wednesday, which is expected to increase to 2.72 percent.

BROOKFIELD — Brookfield voters approved the 2016-2017 Town budget on Tuesday, according to The News Times who reported that the the $40.4 million Board of Education budget passed 1,432-949 and the $23 million town budget passed 1,510-855.
Voters also approved bonding $1.9 million to cover $3.3 million missing in the town’s fund balance from capital projects that were approved for bonding, according to the report.
Residents will vote on the $2.8 million capital budget to fund replacing portable classrooms at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School, new police cars and road paving.
