Brookfield Board of Ed Approves $78.1M Plan for New School
The district plans to apply for a grant to bring the cost down to $63.3 million.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Board of Education on Wednesday night approved a plan to build a new Huckleberry Hill Elementary School, the News Times is reporting.
At a meeting Wednesday night, the board unveiled a design of a three-level $78.1 million building that would serve about 1,130 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
The project is part of a 10-year plan to modernize the school buildings, created by Hartford firm Tecton Architects along with a subcommittee of the school board.

The Municipal Building Committee will need to finalize the plans, which will then go before the selectmen and finance board for approval. The final stage in the acceptance process would be a referendum, which could be held as soon as March.
