The proposed budget represents an increase from this year's budget.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Board of Finance has proposed a budget that First Selectman Steve Dunn called sensible for residents, reports the News Times.
According to the report, the $64.7 million budget represents a 2.17 percent increase from this year. $40.8 million of that will go to schools and $18.6 million will go to town operations and contingencies, according to the budget.
There will be a capital budget discussion Thursday at 7 p.m. and an operating budget hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The budget represents a cut to the Board of Education's budget from the Board of Selectmen's previous proposal.
