BROOKFIELD, CT — Voters approved the combined $64.7 million school and town budget in a referendum Tuesday.
The budget will likely raise taxes by 1.8 percent and includes a $700,000 contingency in case the state cuts local funds, according to the News Times.
Under Gov. Dannel Malloy's newly proposed budget Brookfield would lose state funding and in effect owe the state money for a portion of teacher pension obligations.
