Brookfield Business Victim of Credit Card Scam

After agreeing to unusual terms from a leasing company, a Brookfield business owner noticed money being withdrawn from his bank account.

NBC CT News reports that a Brookfield computer company is the victim of a credit card scam.

Jack Emanuel, owner of J&J Computer Works on Federal Road, told NBC CT News that a card processing salesman came to his Brookfield computer repair shop last year with an attractive leasing offer. He offered to lease the credit card processing equipment for $50 dollars a month, with no other charges.

Emanuel soon noticed hundreds of dollars being withdrawn from his bank account, eventually forcing him to close the account. He later received a notice of a lawsuit from the company, Lease Finance Group, for $2,302 dollars.

The State of Connecticut Attorney General’s office and Department of Consumer Protection have subpoenaed documents from Lease Finance Group related to Emanuel’s case.
