The development of the new elementary school is an enormous project that impacts all residents. Designing the facility to support our educational goals, keeping the community engaged in and informed of its progress, planning for predicted student population growth and working within the approved budget are imperative. I have been attending the meetings and following this project for some time, and would work with the different boards, committees and residents to achieve these goals.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am passionate about education - a strong school system should be a base for every community and individual. I have been engaged in supporting educational opportunities since college, starting with alumni outreach. As our children started in Brookfield Public Schools, I have volunteered in the classroom and at school events, attended Board of Education and town meetings, joined the Brookfield Education Foundation Gala committee, voted on school budgets and become more informed about the school system. I am committed to working to ensure our schools thrive and offer a range of opportunities for all students.

List other issues that define your campaign platform:

As a Board member, I would advocate for educational needs and opportunities, maintain open and clear lines of communication, and encourage collaboration to support our schools. In addition to overseeing development of the new elementary school, I believe it is imperative to plan for facility updates at Whisconier Middle School and Brookfield High School.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Professionally, my experience in fund development and corporate relations provided daily opportunities to connect people, organizations and businesses with each other and provide both financial and volunteer support to community programs. I developed budgets, regularly communicated missions and program information to donors, described what our foundations and organizations were trying to accomplish and engaged others in those goals.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I grew up in this area and we are raising our three young children here. I am impressed with the strength of our schools and the breadth of offerings, and I would like to be a part of their continued growth and development.
