Brookfield Democrats To Hold Info Session on School Referendum

Get answers to questions about the proposal to build a new Huckleberry Hill Elementary School on the existing campus.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Democratic Committee is holding a public information session so residents can learn more about the $78.1 million proposal for a new elementary school at an event next week.

Billed as a "meet-and-greet," the event will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hacienda Don Manuel on 265 Federal Road. Democratic members from the boards of selectmen, education and finance, as well as members of the Municipal Building Committee, will answer questions about the proposal to build a new Huckleberry Hill Elementary School on the existing campus.

The proposal would allow the town to demolish the current 58-year-old building and vacate the 81-year-old Center Elementary School. A potential state grant is expected to bring the cost to taxpayers down to $63.3 million.
