Brookfield Democrats Host Book Signing Event
Michael Zacchea, BDTC Chair and author of 'The Ragged Edge', will be available for a book signing on May 4 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

From BDTC: The Brookfield Democratic Town Committee (BDTC) is hosting a book signing event with BDTC Chair, Michael Zacchea, author of the new book The Ragged Edge onThursday, May 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Panchos and Gringos, 779 Federal Road, Brookfield.
Mike is a combat-wounded, medically retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel, who came to Brookfield CT upon his medical retirement from the Marine Corps. He is the Director of the UConn Entrepreneur Bootcamp for Veterans, and founded the CT Veterans Chamber of Commerce. Mike has served on several state task forces regarding veterans’ issues, and is a nationally recognized veterans advocate and subject matter expert on veterans’ workforce reintegration. He lives in Brookfield, CT, where he is the new chair of the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee.
Deployed to Iraq after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, US Marine Michael Zacchea's mission was to build and lead in combat the first Iraqi Army battalion trained by the US military. THE RAGGED EDGE chronicles how Zacchea overcame language and cultural barriers to unify and lead his troops to fight bravely at the Battle of Fallujah against the forces that would eventually form ISIS. It covers the hardships and challenges of helping to build an Iraqi Army. He learned of the physical and psychological cost of war and the importance of friendship and developing an understanding of another culture. Michael Zacchea was the subject of an assassination plot in Iraq that could have cost him his life. For his service, he won two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and Iraq’s Order of the Lion of Babylon.
