Brookfield Family Narrowly Escapes Tree Falling On Car
A mother and her three children narrowly escaped being crushed by a falling tree which destroyed their car in Brookfield.
BROOKFIELD, CT — A tree fell in a South Obtuse Road driveway Wednesday, narrowly missing a mother and her three children, fire officials said.
The children were inside a car, which was destroyed by the falling tree. The mother, Shana Del Salto, was outside the rented Dodge Durango trying to open the trunk when she heard a cracking.
She told Hearst CT that she "felt things starting to fall on me." She said she "could only move my neck a little bit and I see my son with bloody hands because all the windows broke on them."

Firefighters from Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to the home at 4:15 p.m., and used chainsaws to remove the tree and open up the driveway.
The four lucky residents were evaluated, and all refused treatment and transport to a hospital. As they had just been grocery shopping, firefighters and Brookfield police officers brought the groceries up the hill to the home before they spoiled, according to a post on Facebook.
