Brookfield Firefighters Say Goodbye to Two of Their Own
Two former members of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company will be starting new emergency services jobs at neighboring towns.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Two former members of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company start new emergency services jobs at neighboring towns today.
Kristi-Starr Smith, a Vintech Management Service emergency medical technician assigned regularly to BVFC, begins her career with the Norwalk Fire Department on Thursday. Firefighters cited her readiness to pitch in and help stretch the first line off the apparatus to help the first-in firefighters in their tribute on social media. Smith was also the subject of many "thank you" letters sent to the BVFC over the years by appreciative patients, and noted for her "unique blend of compassion for her patients and comedy routine around the station," according to the post.

BVFC firefighter/EMT Nick Nunnally, starts the Connecticut Fire Academy's recruit firefighter program on Thursday as he begins a new career with the Danbury Fire Department.

"Nick has dedicated his life to public service," the company posted on social media. "In addition to serving our community with the BVFC, he has recently retired after a distinguished 20-year career with the United States Coast Guard. We wish him well!"
