Brookfield Girls Swim & Dive Team - Finishing Season Strong!
At the close of the dual meet season, the Lady Bobcats are 8 - 3 on their season. More focused and working harder than ever, the girls have recent wins against Masuk, New Fairfield, and Joel Barlow. This past Friday they celebrated their "Senior Night", as a packed housed cheered the team to a win against New Milford - making it a perfect night for their 8 seniors.
At The Dive Shop Friday night, the Lady Bobcats all senior relay team of Anna Brown, Marilyn Duong, Anna Fernandez and Katie Dixon got the crowd going with a win in the 200 Medley. Not to disappoint, the underclassmen team of Emily Mendelson, Gabby Tamer, Megan Contarino and BiBi Phadnis touched 2nd. Next, three seniors were successful in sweeping the 200 Free with Steph Ferrarie touching 1st, Kelly Lappin 2nd, and Sam Russo 3rd.

Senior Sam Palicz cruised to victory in the 200 IM with teammates, Phadnis coming in 3rd and Carly Palicz in 4th. The 50 Free saw seniors Dixon and Duong sprinting to 3rd and 5th place finishes respectively.
Moving on to the diving event, Brookfield had an exciting night with both of their divers, Ana Kavanagh and Dana Sherr earning their highest scores ever this season. Both divers are now qualified to compete at the SWC Championship meet.

The Lady Bobcats swam on for another sweep, this time in the 100 Fly, with Fernandez capturing 1st, LeAnna Murphy 2nd, and Duong in 3rd. In the 100 Free, Dixon touched the wall 1st , Ali Bowers 2nd and Kayla Downs touched 4th. Brookfield’s triple threat of Ferrarie, Lappin & Russo was successful in sweeping the 500 Free. The team of Celia Weinstein, Russo, Lappin and Ferrarie swam strong for a 1st in the 200 Free Relay, while Tamer, Murphy, Mendelson, and Kavanagh placed 3rd. A.Brown and S. Palicz went 1, 2 in the 100 Back, with teammate Phadnis placing 6th. C. Palicz battled for 1st in the 100 Breast and won a tight race. All eight seniors swam the final event, the 400 Free Relay. Splitting into 2 teams, the team of S. Palicz, Russo, Fernandez and A.Brown won the event.
On Monday, Brookfield traveled to Oxford for their final meet of the dual meet season and picked up yet another win.
The girls continue to train hard, and have turned their focus towards the upcoming SWC Championship meet, where they look to successfully defend their 2012 title.
The SWC meet will take place at Masuk High School in Monroe. The Diving competition will be held first on Wednesday Oct. 30th at 6:00pm and the Swim competition on Saturday November 2nd at 4:00pm. Come on out and cheer the girls on!
