Brookfield Landscaper Suffers Severe Injuries in Freak Accident

The family of a Brookfield man is asking for help after an industrial-sized garage door fell, pinning him underneath, damaging his spine.

A Brookfield landscaper, Jeff Moxham, suffered a severe injury to his spine on January 14 when the industrial garage door where he works fell, pinning him underneath.

His family has set up a GoFundMe page where they wrote:

“A Good Samaritan nearby, Herb Jacobs, came to Jeff’s aid, in what could only be explained as super strength, with one hand lifted the massive door and with the other slid Jeff out from under it. The falling door severely broke and dislocated Jeff’s back. Jeff is recovering in the hospital at this time, while the full extent of the injuries are not yet known, Jeff has a long road to recovery ahead of him.”

His family said Moxham is a devoted family man. “He and his wife Tara have a daughter Hannah who attends Brookfield High School. He is a small business owner in Brookfield, he runs a landscaping and snow plowing business and has two employees. He has run this business for over 35 years in Brookfield.”

Moxham has also served as a volunteer for 12 years with the Brookfield-based charity, Handy Dandy Handyman (HDHM). Founder Peter Brady said, “He has given so much of his time to help many of our less fortunate clients and has worked side by side with me on several construction projects over the 12 years he has been associated with HDHM.”

The charity will build a handicapped ramp on his home and make updates to his bathroom, bedroom and other areas of Moxham’s home to make it handicap accessible. Brady is seeking help from community members to fund the project, as well as help from local contractors for “The Jeff Project.” Volunteers are needed to donate labor as well.

The group is also asking for donations of a battery mobile scooter, battery mobile wheelchair, and a handicapped van. Email PeterBrady@hdhm.org if you can help.
