Brookfield Lions Celebrate 50th Anniversary

A Fun Time Was Had By All

The Brookfield Lions Club celebrated its 50th anniversary in grand style on April 15, 2016 at the Fox Hill Inn, Brookfield, Connecticut. Well over 100 guests attended this event held in recognition of the broad range of services the organization has provided to the local community and beyond, including its generous support of Brookfield Social Services, the creation and management of the Brookfield Lions Community Garden, its active involvement in pediatric and adult eye screenings, and much more.

The Brookfield Lions were honored to have U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal join in the festivities, during which he spoke eloquently about the history of the club, its engagement in the needs of the community, and its bright future driven by increased membership. Sen. Blumenthal presented President Lyn Lyon with a proclamation citing, in relevant part, the Brookfield Lions Club’s “extraordinary generosity and unwavering commitment” in supporting the community. Official citations recognizing the club’s service were also received from U.S. Senator Christopher S. Murphy and U.S. Congresswoman Elizabeth H. Esty. State Representative Stephen Harding, a Brookfield Lion, and Brookfield First Selectman Stephen C. Dunn were in attendance and offered their congratulations to the club. Also present to make congratulatory remarks were Carolyn Messier, Past International Director of Lions Clubs International, and Tom Sullivan, District Governor of District 23A, also a Brookfield Lion.

Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organization in the world. Its 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs are serving communities in 207 countries and geographical areas around the globe.
