Brookfield Marine Specialist First Responders Pull Boat From Lake
Members of the police dive team and Candlewood Company's Marine 25 fire/rescue boat assisted DEEP with the salvage.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Crews from both the police and fire departments collaborated to recover a boat from Candlewood Lake.
On Sunday night, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection contacted the Brookfield Police Department with a report that witnesses saw a boat overturn in the lake. The police responded with their dive team, and also contacted the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department's Candlewood Company, who responded with their Marine 25 fire/rescue boat.
The Marine 25 crew was able to locate the sunken vessel with their sonar. After some investigation, the crews determined that the operator was able to escape from the sinking boat, and that the exercise was primarily going to be one of recovering the boat.

"Since it was well into the night, the position was marked and Monday morning Marine 25 and the BPD dive team returned to the area to make the recovery," fire officials reported on their Facebook page.
Within 30 minutes entering the water and searching the marked area, the dive team was able to find and lift the boat back to the surface. The vessel was taken on board M-25 and delivered to DEEP who took possession of the boat and its contents.
