Brookfield Parts Ways With Four Corners Underground Utilities Project: Report

Town officials had planned to bury utility lines as part of the redevelopment.

BROOKFIELD CT — Citing the cost, the town has decided to forgo a project that would put utilities underground as part of the Four Corners redevelopment project, reports the News Times.

First Selectmen Steve Dunn told The News Times that the town's limited resources were better focused on other big projects. Putting electric, cable, telephone and fiber-optic lines underground at the development would cost $16 million.

Dunn told the News Times said residents would prefer a library, the renovation of Huckleberry Hill Elementary School or an expanded police station.
