Brookfield Passes Budget in Third Try

Spending will increase by 2.8 percent and the property tax rate will rise by 3.85 percent.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The third time was the charm for the Brookfield 2018-19 budget. Voters passed the $66.6 million financial plan Tuesday, the News-Times has reported.

The $23.9 million town budget was approved 1,956 to 1,491, while the $42.7 million school plan passed 1,882 to 1,582.

Spending will increase by 2.8 percent and the property tax rate will rise by 3.85 percent, due primarily to mandated increase in in special education costs and cuts to state aid.
