Brookfield PD Will 'Penguin Plunge' For Special Olympics

"Plunge Candlewood" will take place on Sunday, March 15.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Police Department will be taking part in their first Penguin Plunge fundraiser next month.

The Special Olympics is Connecticut's largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities, and the Penguin Plunge is the largest grassroots fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. Participants raise funds to run, or "plunge," into the chilly waters of Connecticut. The plunges take place throughout Connecticut at lakes and beaches from December through early April. Costumes are encouraged.

Plunge Candlewood will take place on Sunday, March 15. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and the plunge is at 1 p.m. The event is being held at the Brookfield Town Beach, 460 Candlewood Lake Road. Parking will be across the street at Cadigan Park.
