Brookfield Police Cracking Down on Distracted Driving

Many town roads will see a strong enforcement of distracted driving laws.

Brookfield Police will be stepping up distracted driving enforcement on many town roads.

Thanks to a recent federal grant awarded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, police will use enhanced spotter patrol enforcement units funded by the grant.

Dedicated patrols will be deployed on Brookfield roads during the period of April through September to enforce distracted driving laws, according to a news release issued by Brookfield police.

The $18,075 ‘Distracted Driving-High Visibility Grant’ provides money to support officers overtime, for targeted special enforcement of distracted driving laws on Town Roads.

Police said any effort to reduce the frequency of distracted driving would benefit all motorists in town.
