Brookfield Police Department Has Outgrown Police Station, Chief Says: Report

The Brookfield Police Department plans to study the existing station, and explore a possible expansion

BROOKFIELD, CT — In light of growth in the town's police force, Brookfield Police Chief James Purcell says that the department has outgrown it's current home, reports the News Times.

Since moving to its current Silvermine Road location, the department has grown from 25 officers to 34 full-time officers and five part-time. The report indicates that the department plans to study its existing station and explore a possible expansion.

Purcell also said that the department is running out of space to store nearly 30 years of police reports, and citing increased demands on the department due to the town population increasing by about 5,000 residents since 1987.
