BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Police Department has a new officer.

Officer Joseph Smith, formerly with the Waterbury PD for four years, was sworn in last week.

Smith is a West Virginia native with 14 years of military service, combining active duty and service with the Connecticut National Guard, where he remains active.
