• Brookfield Wendy's Among Locations Operated By Bankrupt Franchisee (patch.com) — Brookfield residents who frequent the Wendy's on Federal Road may notice little immediate change even though its franchise owner, Meritage Hospitality Group, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company, which runs 29 Wendy's in Connecticut including Brookfield's, says it plans to keep restaurants open, continue paying employees, and use the court-supervised process to restructure its finances.
   

• Southbury Man Gets Probation In Brookfield Happy Landings Shooting (patch.com) — Brookfield readers now have closure in the 2025 Happy Landings Farm shooting case, as a Southbury man has received a suspended jail sentence and three years of probation after pleading guilty to reduced misdemeanor charges. The incident on Whisconier Road left two people with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, and police emphasized it was an isolated situation with no ongoing threat to the public.
