Brookfield Police Partner With Students In Bike Collection Initiative

The initiative supports the Danbury Youth Services Earn-A-Bike program.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Police Department wants your bicycles.

The police are collecting donations of new or used bicycles to furnish local children for "recreational enjoyment, fostering collaborative skill-building, mechanical understanding, and goal setting," according to a social media post.

The "Pedals for Progress" partnership is with students from Brookfield High School. The initiative supports the Danbury Youth Services Earn-A-Bike program, which offers middle school students an opportunity to refurbish a bicycle that they will take home at the end of the workshop sessions for their own use. The program "integrates social and emotional learning curriculum as well as leadership activities to help youth explore their strengths and build confidence," according to the group's website.
