Brookfield Resident Impacted by Brussels Terrorist Attack

A Brookfield student who is a junior at WestConn in Danbury is studying abroad in Belgium recounts her harrowing experience.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A Brookfield student who is a junior at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury studying abroad in Belgium told News12 that she witnessed two bomb explosions in the Brussels terror attack.

Megan Driscoll wrote the following message on her Instagram account after the attacks last Tuesday:

"Today I went to the Brussels Airport, like many other people, to pick up my friend @brianamorrissey (who is safe). after being there for ten minutes 2 bombs went off above me. I made it home safe, but some people did not. We all must come together in this time of need because love will win! #brussels."

A Ridgefield man was one of hundreds injured in last Tuesday terrorist attacks in Belgium,according to the Ridgefield Press. The man suffered non life-threatening injuries, the paper reported, and his identity is being withheld at the request of the family.

More than 31 have died after the attack, according to Fox 61 News, who reported that ISIS claims responsibility for the bombing.
