More than 30 are dead and hundreds injured after terrorist attacks in Brussels, according to Fox 61, who said that ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Several Connecticut college students who are studying abroad, including a student from WestConn who was also in the airport at the time of the attack, are safe, according to FOX 61.

The WestConn student was at the airport at the time of the attack, waiting to pick up a friend, according to the report. Three Quinnipiac University students were in the Brussels Airport at the time of Tuesday morning’s attacks, but all are safe.

The students, all females, are studying in Ireland for the semester and were traveling in Brussels while on spring break, according to the university.

They are currently at the U.S. Embassy in Brussels, Quinnipiac said in a statement.

A fourth Quinnipiac student, who is studying abroad in Belgium this semester, wasn’t at the airport and is also safe and accounted for.

FOX 61 reports two students from the Connecticut State College and University system are in Brussels and are safe and accounted for, as is an Eastern Connecticut State student, who is also in Brussels.

At least 34 people were killed and more than 170 injured in apparently coordinated bombings at transportation hubs in Brussels early Tuesday morning.

Locally, Connecticut State Police are monitoring the situation.

“Connecticut State Police asks citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or people,” Trooper Kelly Grant said. “Troopers continue to remain vigilant while on their patrols.”
