Brookfield Residents to Vote on $67.4 Million Budget Proposal
The proposed budget represents an increase of 4.1 percent above current spending.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Contractual salary increases, reductions in state aid and a rise in special education costs are the main contributors to a tax rate increase of more than 5 percent, residents learned in a public forum Wednesday night. The $67.4 million budget proposal will have a referendum on May 15.
The plan calls for $43 million allotted for the schools and $24.4 million for the town, an increase of 4.1 percent above current spending.
