Brookfield Residents Vote Tonight on Budgets
The town and school budgets are on the referendum tonight; the capital budget will require a separate referendum.

BROOKFIELD, CT -- Residents will be voting tonight on the latest budget referendum.
$42,915,593 is proposed for the school budget, and $24,117,174 for the town.
The new proposal would see spending increase 3.5 percent and the property tax rate would increase by 4.65 percent.

The total proposal is about $400,000 less than the budgets residents rejected in the May 15 referendum. Turnout then was light, attributed by many to the severe weather which hit late in the day.
