BROOKFIELD, CT — Students in kindergarten through 8th grade will be returning to in-classroom learning, and high school students will return to the hybrid attendance model, on Jan. 19.

Superintendent John Barile notified families of the schedule update by email on Tuesday.

The remote learning option remains in effect for those parents who may not yet be ready to send their children back to school in January, Barile said.

The superintendent wrote that it was "critically important that we return to in-person learning as soon as it is safely possible."

Barile said he reviewed the town's health metrics and the priority to return students to in-person learning with the schools' medical advisor and the town public health director before making the decision.

"Our educator's vigilance to ensure that we adhere to our mitigation strategies of additional cleaning, hand washing, mask wearing, and the assignment of single student desks position our students and staff well for this safe return to school," Barile said.
