Brookfield Selectmen Make Budget Proposal 2017-2018 : Report
In the face of cuts to state aid, the Brookfield Board of Selectmen have made their 2017-2018 budget proposal.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Board of Selectmen have submitted a $64.9 million budget proposal to the Board of Finance, reports the News Times.
The budget proposal represents an increase of $1.5 million, or 2.5 percent increase from the town's current budget. First Selectmen Steve Dunn said, according to the News Times, that the goal was to achieve a balanced budget that is both fiscally conservative and meets the need of the town.
Following Gov. Dannel Malloy's budget proposal, local officials have scrambled to account for potential state aid cuts in their budgets. The Brookfield School District would lose $1.4 million and need to pay for part of the teacher pension costs, according to the budget.
