Brookfield Superintendent Eyes 4.4 Percent Budget Hike
The budget calls for new teachers in pre-K, speech, special education and American Sign Language.
BROOKFIELD, CT — In his latest pass at the school budget for the next fiscal year, Superintendent John Barile proposed Wednesday night an almost $44.6 million spending plan for next fiscal year, the News Times is reporting.
The proposed budget represents a 4.4 percent hike above this year’s budget, and provides for four new full-time teachers in pre-kindergarten, speech, special education and American Sign Language.
Only 1.1 percent of the jump is discretionary, as a 3 percent increase is mandated by contractual salary and benefits increases for employees and the rising cost of various services.
