Brookfield Town Budget Vote is Set for May 17

The proposed budget includes $80,000 to change Brookfield's zoning laws and $30,000 for a moratorium on affordable housing applications.

BROOKFIELD — A budget referendum has been set for May 17 to allow Brookfield residents to vote on the proposed $63.4 million town and school budgets.

A town meeting was held on Tuesday to set the date and hear proposals from the First Selectman and Board of Education. The proposed tax increase is 2.72 percent and the proposed education budget increase is 2.17 percent.

The proposed spending increase for the selectmen’s budget is 6.5 percent.
