Brookfield Voters Make Their Decision on 2019-20 Budgets

The public referendum was held Tuesday

BROOKFIELD, CT — Voters approved the 2019-20 town and schools budgets, in a public referendum held on Tuesday.

The $26 million town budget, $44 million schools budget and $3.5 million capital budget all won favor with the voters.

The town plan calls for $18.8 million for town operations, $5.2 million for debt service, $1.8 million for capital projects (including paving the middle school and high school parking lots) and $130,000 for teachers' retirement.

The new budget raises spending by 5.18 percent over the current plan, and increases the tax rate by 2.87 percent.
