BROOKFIELD WEATHER ALERT: Heavy Rain, Possible Thunderstorms Forecast

It's been relatively dry recently again, but Mother Nature changes that today with a very wet forecast that may include some thunderstorms.

The National Weather Services says showers will develop in southern Connecticut after 10 a.m. and after 2 p.m. in Hartford and Tolland counties.

The rain is relatively light during the afternoon but is expected to pick up in intensity during the evening and overnight hours.

Over an inch of rain is expected for the entire state, and in Hartford and Tolland counties a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued for up to two inches of rain.

The National Weather Service says to expect heavy rain this evening and possibly accompanied by some thunderstorms. There is also minor concerns about flooding in some areas as well.

The rain is expected to end statewide by the morning commute on Friday.

News 12 Meteorologist Garrett Argianas writes, “Rain will be heaviest during the afternoon and evening. The evening commute will be damp; large puddles and localized flooding will be possible. Over an inch of rain is likely across the area.”

NBC Connecticut Chief Meteorologist Brad Field writes, “First Alert Weather Day ... as we prepare you for heavy rain developing during the afternoon commute and continuing through the evening…”

Weekend forecast

Friday is looking much better with a return of sun and temps in the mid 50s.

Saturday and Sunday are also very seasonal weather days with temps in the upper 40s and partly sunny skies.
